Live Painting Process
To create a live painting centered on you and your partner, I begin with reference photos and start the piece before your guests arrive.
If you have a specific moment in mind, I’ll set up in advance, paint the background on-site, capture reference images, and then add you into the final composition.
Your guests enjoy seeing multiple stages of the painting process, including a fully covered canvas draft stage. The evening is too short to add all the details, so I take the painting back to my studio to finish it there.

Frequently Asked Questions

On average, I spend about 6 minutes per guest for my faceless portraits, which usually works out to around 10 guests per hour. The timeline can vary a little depending on details like each guest’s clothing and accessories. I also love answering your guests’ questions and talking about the process, which can affect the timing. My goal is for everyone to have a spectacular time. For larger events I work with other artists to make sure we can accommodate your guest count.

Yes, I can absolutely paint couples, families, and small groups together in one portrait. For my horizontal portraits, I can comfortably fit around 4–5 adults in a single composition. If I’m painting a family with kids, I can usually squeeze in as many little ones as you could fit in a minivan!
-
After your wedding day, I bring the painting back to my studio to add all the details, polish up the final touches, and apply a protective varnish so it lasts for years to come. This finishing process typically takes about 1–2 weeks, and then your painting is ready for its forever home.

I’m based in Vancouver, BC, and most local weddings don’t require any additional travel fees. For events that are more than a 4‑hour drive from Vancouver, I do charge a travel fee to cover extra time and expenses. I’m always happy to provide a clear travel quote upfront so there are no surprises.

You’re the one who gets to decide what I paint! I can stage a few reference photos so your guests see more of a “before and after” transformation on the canvas, or I can focus on capturing a specific moment and paint the two of you on top of a beautiful background. If you’re not sure what you’d like yet, I’ll happily show you samples and walk you through the different options so we can choose the scene that feels most special to you.

To book my services, just get in touch with a few details about your event, and I’ll send over a custom quote. If you’d like to move forward, I’ll email you a contract to review and sign, and a 50% deposit will be required to secure your date. The remaining balance is due the day before your event, and then you can relax knowing your live painting experience is all set.
